I think a lot of the confusion has to do with how the panels are set up. The only panel where you can tell what’s going on is the first one, because We can see a full shot of Ms. Alien and the pod, and it’s clear what she’s doing. But in all the others, everything’s really squished. The panels are really small and constricted, cutting off the main action.
Panel 4 is really confusing, because we’re not sure how we’re getting that view. Is this perspective from behind the bed? Is Ms. Alien standing up? Where did that box come from, and where is it in the room? Again, the panel size doesn’t help because it really feels like it’s just cutting things off. We’re not getting a sense of space. The final three panels are also really confusing, because it doesn’t look like they have any relation to each other at first glance. I had to reread it a couple of times to understand that we were slowly zooming into some weird pod thing being stuck to the ship, because it’s hard to tell the ship apart from the asteroids in panel 5.
There’s also the fact that the anatomy is hyper-stylized and squishy, so it’s tough to decipher what body part we’re looking at sometimes. I don’t even know what that thing is in the second panel. This was a pretty big issue in the last story too, the incest one with the mother and son- but confusing anatomy is its own separate issue.
